This panel typically weighs only 3.5–4.5 kg (7.7–10 lbs) and measures about 700mm × 540mm (27.6″ × 21.3″). While you could carry it in a large backpack, it's better suited for a dedicated carrying case. For true backpacking (hiking miles), consider our flexible or 20W-30W panels.
Q2: Does this panel have a built-in USB port to charge phones or tablets directly?

Not as a standard feature, but we can add a weatherproof dual USB port (5V/2.4A) to the junction box as a low-cost customization. This lets you charge smartphones, tablets, or LED lights directly without a separate controller – perfect for a simple camping or emergency kit. Without this, you'll need an external USB adapter.
Q3: Will this 60W panel produce any useful power on a deeply overcast winter day or in a shaded yard?
A3:
Yes, but very little – roughly 5-15% of rated power (3-9 watts). That's still enough to trickle-charge a small battery (e.g., maintain a motorcycle battery) but not to run a device directly. For shaded areas, we recommend our amorphous silicon (thin-film) panels or over-paneling (using a larger panel with a small controller). Ask our sales team for shade-optimized options.
Q4: What is the smallest charge controller I can use with this 60W panel for a 12V system?
A4:
For a 12V battery, the panel's maximum current is about 3.3A (60W ÷ 18V). Therefore, a 6A or 10A PWM controller is perfectly matched and widely available. We can supply a tiny potted (waterproof) 10A controller as part of a custom kit – small enough to fit inside a junction box or battery box.
Q5: Can I mount this 60W panel indoors on a sunny windowsill or balcony wall?
A5:
You can, but indoor glass significantly reduces output (by 50-90% depending on coatings). For indoor use, we recommend mounting it outside the window or on a sunny balcony railing. If indoor is your only option, consider our high-efficiency IBC cell panels (available as a custom upgrade) or use the panel as a supplemental charger rather than a primary power source.
Q6: Can this 60W panel directly charge a small 12V motorcycle or lawn tractor battery?
A6:
Yes, it's ideal for that. A 60W panel (Vmp ~18V) is perfectly sized for maintaining or slowly charging small 12V batteries like those in motorcycles, ATVs, lawn tractors, or jet skis. Always use a small charge controller (e.g., 10A PWM) to prevent overcharging, as these batteries have small capacity.
